Terms and Conditions

1. Accepting these terms

By using our website (milestonefive.com), our web app, or our mobile app for iPhone and Android (together, the "Platform" or "MS5"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Platform.

2. What MileStone Five is

MileStone Five helps people build and keep up circles of support for anyone going through grief and other life-changing events. The website shares stories, insights and resources. The app — on the web and on iPhone and Android — lets you record important life events and milestones, create and manage support circles, receive reminders for significant dates, and stay connected with the people supporting you. Features may differ between the web and mobile versions.

3. Not medical or mental-health care

MileStone Five offers community and information. It isn't therapy, counseling, or medical or mental-health care, and it doesn't replace professional help. If you or someone you know is in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, U.S.) or call 911 in an emergency.

4. Your account

Some features need an account. You agree to give accurate information, keep your sign-in secure, tell us promptly about any unauthorized use, and take responsibility for activity under your account.

5. What you share

You own what you write and the photos you send us. When you post a reflection or give us a story to publish, you give MileStone Five permission to display, edit for length and clarity, and share it on the Platform, credited the way you chose (including anonymously). You confirm you have the right to share it, including any photos, and that it doesn't include other people's private information without their consent. We review reflections before they appear and may decline or remove anything that doesn't follow these Terms.

5a. Inviting people

When you invite someone to your support circle, you confirm you have their permission to share their name and contact details with us, and you understand we will send them your invitation and related updates by email or text message. Standard message and data rates may apply to text messages. Anyone can ask us to stop contacting them at milestonefiveapp@gmail.com.

6. Community guidelines

Please don't use the Platform to break the law; share false or misleading information; harass, shame or harm others; post spam or advertising; try to access parts of the Platform you aren't permitted to; or interfere with how the Platform works. You can report people or content that break these guidelines; we review reports and may remove content, warn, or block accounts.

7. Early access

Joining the early-access list doesn't guarantee access, and early access may be changed, paused or revoked at any time.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your information.

8a. Mobile apps

Our mobile app is offered through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Your use of an app store is also governed by that store's own terms. Apple and Google aren't parties to these Terms and aren't responsible for the Platform or its support. We may release updates; some features may need the latest version.

9. Links and third-party content

The Platform links to other websites and shows content hosted by others, such as our YouTube video. We aren't responsible for their content or practices.

10. Intellectual property

Apart from what you share, the Platform's content, features and design are owned by MileStone Five and protected by copyright, trademark and other laws.

11. No warranties

The Platform is provided "as is". We don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, MileStone Five isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform.

13. Ending access

We may suspend or end access to the Platform, without notice, for conduct we believe breaks these Terms or harms others or the Platform. You can stop using the Platform and ask us to close your account at any time.

14. Governing law

MileStone Five is based and incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Virginia.

15. Changes to these terms

We may change these Terms. We'll post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date. Continuing to use the Platform after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
